Spotify is finally allowing for its Premium members the facility to be listening to music and podcasts with friends and family simultaneously at the same time even if they are miles apart and aren’t in the same location or vicinity. This will be made possible through its beta feature which is planned to be called “Group Session”.
Now any Spotify Premium user can generate a shareable link URL with up to five friends or listeners maximum, given the condition they also are Spotify Premium users. In this way they can simultaneously stream music, podcast, and more content together.
Any individual listener or member of said streaming party can pause, play, skip, or select upcoming tracks in the queue, and they can add their own choices too. To be the one hosting a session Or “listening party”, premium users can select the Connect menu in the bottom left-hand corner of their play screen and scroll down to “Start a group session.”
Once tapped, they’ll receive a shareable link they can send over social media, messaging or e-mails.
It is worth noting that there’s no “chat” feature, which means listeners will have to rely on a third-party app to discuss the podcast or music with their friends.
